2010: not just a Street Fighter game [Dec. 31st, 2009|03:41 pm]
20 years ago, this is what Japan thought life would be like for us.

I won't lie, the music isn't as good, but they got the fashion and the style dead on.

2009 was mostly the suck. Lots of personal trials, some helped me grow and encouraged me; others just brought me down and kicked me. But I’m still standing and still moving forward; sometimes that’s all you can really do.

I am setting some resolutions for myself. The more vague and boring it is, the less likely I am to do it, so instead, I’m setting some goals I want to hit at some point this year. Some of them are fun things that I just think would be rad, others are to help me focus and improve my life.

1. Clear 90% of my credit card debt.
2. Get myself into fighting shape and stick with the boxing regiment. (this goes hand in hand, but I really want to work on my speed. Form is tight, but I want to hammer on my reflexes and twitch speed)
3. Write at least 3 Let’s Plays and post them up in the lj.
4. Beat Megaman 1-9 and Mega Man Zero 1-4
5. Get 5 freelance articles published.
6. Get more money. Get more paid.
7. Head out to a baseball game with John and Chris. Maybe a Phils/Mets game with proper pregaming?
8. Find a place that I want to live for more than year, and find a living situtation that I am really and truly happy with.
9. Get at least 5 articles in print every month.
10. Throw a totally stuntastic party.
11. Beat Persona 2 and SMT: Nocturne this year. And do it for real; all side quests, bosses, ultimate weapons. Perfect runs on both.
12. Get lunch with two friends at work and discuss writing, writing opportunities and pursue criticism.
13. Write a novel.
14. Be more accessable. This means getting better about responding to text messages, phone calls, emails, etc.
15. Continue to be me. Most of the time, I’m kind of awesome. I should keep that up.

I want to visit this list each month and see if I've done something to advance any of these, or if I cross any off my list. I know some are tougher than others, but hey, what's life without challenge?

Have a great NYE everyone. Whether you want things to keep being rad or to pull out of a tailspin, I hope that 2010 is a great year for everybody! I'm going to partying, playing video games, eating junk food, drinking, and hanging out with friends.

Gotta start a new year off right, after all.

xmas gifts [Nov. 30th, 2009|07:54 pm]
[Current Mood | blah]

I'm going to make a more in depth post later, but just wanted to put this out there.

Unless your last name is Ewing, I won't be able to get you a gift this year. I'm getting blasted in the butt, financially, so this Christmas is going to be incredibly light. It sucks, but we all have to do what we've gotta do.

Look, we all love Miles Edgeworth. Trufax.
Court Records managed to get a hold of and translate the TGS demo floating around. Since this is a fan work of a Japanese demo, I think I'm in the clear to post this!
but seriously, game is AWESOME.

CURLY MOUSTACHE! [Feb. 27th, 2009|12:58 pm]
1. Is there anyone on your friends list you would ever consider having sex with?
Absolutely! Too many sexy ladies on my friend's list!

2. Sex in the morning, afternoon or night?
I've enjoyed it in the morning, but I'm not feeling any sexual moves in the afternoon.

3. What side of the bed do you sleep on?
I sleep on my back.

4. Do you masturbate?
Of course!

5. How often? Lately?
I fire one off about 24 hours.

6. Have you ever taken your clothes off for money?
Yep. I don't regret it!

7. Do you prefer showers or baths?
Baths are more relaxing and enjoyable.

8. Have you ever had sex in the shower or the bath?
Yep! It's a lot of fun

9. Do you watch/read pornography?
Pretty much everyday.

10. Do you want someone aggressive or passive in bed?
Most of my partners have been passive. I wouldn't mind a sexual partner who set the pace and made me follow her. It'd be pretty solid.

11. Do you love someone on your friends list?
not in the romantic sense, but I do love plenty of people as friends. Or is that too PG13 for this quiz?

12. Do you know all the people on your friends list?
Of course, it'd be kind of weird if I didn't?

13. Would you choose love or money?

14. Your top three favorite kinks in bed?
I love the idea of a girl dressing up as a different character.
I'm totally on board with a girl being submissive.
I would totally rock a girl on board with some schoolgirl stuff.

15. Has anyone ever gone beyond your personal line of respect sexually?
What is this going for here? I mean, a girl has never been like "BREAK OUT THE STAR FOX COSTUME." if that's what you're asking?

16. Where is the most romantic place you have had sex
It was a dorm room, but I really did set it up nicely. Candles, flowers and a home made dinner.
What, I was like, 20.

17. Where is the weirdest place you have had sex?
The trunk of my car. It was somehow LESS comfortable than you'd think

18. Have you ever been caught having sex?
No, thank god. I don't even know how I'd handle that.

19. Have you ever been to a strip club?
Hahaha yea. My friends took me to "Cafe Royale" for my birthday when I turned 21.

20. Ever been to a bar just to get sex?
Nope

21. Ever been kicked out of a bar or a club for sexual reasons?
No, and I haven't seen anyone get kicked out for sexual reasons either

22. Ever been picked up in a bar?
Sort of? I'm pretty oblivious, so there's a decent chance that one of the "friendly people" I've met at a bar were probably trying to do me.

23. Have you ever kissed or had sex with someone of the same sex?
Nope. I'm a straight man

24. What's your sexuality?
I like ladies.

25. Had sex in a movie theater?
Nope. That'd require flexability and contortion the likes of which I don't have.

26. Had sex in a bathroom?
hahaha yea. It was probably the worst experience of my life. The guy in the stall next to us was passed out, so cops has to break it down, pull him out and arrest him. Didn't really set the mood.

27. Have you ever had sex at work?
Man, that's a line I wouldn't feel cool about crossing

28. Have you ever been in an "adult" store?
Yea, when I was 14 and it was hilarious to hold a box of Penis Pasta. Little did I know, it would ALWAYS be funny to hold a box of penis pasta

29. Bought something from an adult store?
yep!

30. Do you own any sex toys?
I do!

31. If yes, how many and what are they?
I've got a pair of handcuffs, but I don't even know where they are right now. I think still boxed up?

32. Does anyone have naughty pics of you or are you on film?
A picture of me in my boxers, but it's more hilarious than arousing, I assure you.

33. Have you ever had sex with someone and called them the wrong name?
Ouch, yea. Got slapped once and outright punched once!

34. Have you ever had phonesex?
Yep. I actually rather enjoyed it, but it's not a regular occurance.

35. Have you ever had cybersex?
Yea, Not to pat myself on the back here, but I'm an excellent partner and usually all I get in response is "ur so ballin" which while hilarious, isn't quite fair.

36. Do you think oral sex constitutes as a form of intercourse?
Nah, I think it's an alternative to intercourse.

37. What's your favorite sexual position?
Hm, cowgirl or doggy style, I'd say.

38. What's your favorite sex act?
getting head IS awesome

39. Have you ever had sex with more than one person at a time?
nope

40. Who do you think has the guts to repost this? a lot of people, really, I'm always late on these things

41. What's this last one for?
Good luck?

Happy Valentines Day! [Feb. 16th, 2009|02:42 am]
[Current Mood | happy]

So instead of an update on my life (which would be pathetically boring), I'm just going to talk about my weekend, a work of awesome fiction, and some really offensive images.

This weekend, I came home to visit my parents and had a wonderful weekend. My dad took me to see Taken, which should have been renamed "The Dad from Fallout 3 Kills Like 5000 Albanian Slavers."
Seriously, for a PG-13 movie, I was blown away at how violent it was. Liam Neeson shoots out a guy's knee then stomps his throat out.

We got KFC, came home and decided to have a split movie night. My dad picked "Winchester 73" a crazy awesome western. My mom picked "Walk Hard" a movie I love to death. So this weekend has been full of great food, great movies and my parents. All of which are win.

Last night, I was hanging out, I listened to I'm on a Boat, while playing Super Robot Wars. There was really only one option from there.

I'm on a Boat (Mecha Remix)

Aww shit, get your Plug Suit ready it's about to go down (Shinji, yeah)
Everybody in the place hit the fucking deck (Shinji, yeah)
But stay on your motherfucking toes
We running this, let's go

I'm on a mech (I'm on a mech)
I'm on a mech (I'm on a mech)
Everybody look at me 'cause I'm ridin on a mech (ridin on a mech)
I'm on a mech (I'm on a mech)
I'm on a mech
Take a good hard look at the motherfucking mech (mech, yeah)

I'm on a mech motherfucker take a look at me
Straight burnin on a mech in the deep dark space
Busting five knots, stars shootin by my face
You can't stop me motherfucker cause I'm on a mech

Take a picture, trick (trick)
I'm on a mech, bitch (bitch)
We drinking Sapporo champ,
Cause it's so crisp (crisp)
I got my missile packs
Gunbuster aimin for the tippy toppy
I'm fryin grunts, you stuck in da hunt
You copyin data on a floppy

I'm riding on a Freedom, doing flips and shit
The Freedom's blasting, makin everybody all bloody
But this ain't Orb, I fight for myself
I'm on a mech, motherfucker, I’m gonna find me a MILF!

I'm on a mech and
It's going fast and
I got a Zeon themed
pashmina afghan
I'm the king of the world
On a mech like Amuro
If you're not a newtype,
then you're sure not me-oh

Get the fuck up, this mech is REAL!!!

Fuck land, I'm on a mech, motherfucker (motherfucker)
Fuck trees, I climb buoys, motherfucker (motherfucker)
I'm on the deck with my boys, motherfucker (yeah)
This mech engine make noise, motherfucker

Hey Cap, if you could see me now (see me now)
Arms spread wide on the starboard bow (starboard bow)
Gonna fly this mech to the moon somehow (moon somehow)
Like Kamina Beeyotch, anything is possible

Yeah, never thought I'd be on a mech
It's a big dark galactic road (yeah)
Sazabi!
Look at me, oh (all hands on deck)

Never thought I'd see the day
When a big mech coming my way
Believe me when I say
I fucked a newtype!

I'm on a mech
I'm on a mech
Everybody look at me 'cause I'm sailing on a mech (woaah)
I'm on a mech
I'm on a mech
Take a good hard look at the mothafuckin' mech (sha-sha-shorty, shorty, yeah)

Lastly, I've always handed out valentines at Katsu and this is the first year I've missed it in quite a while. To make up for it, I posted valentines on a bunch of journals. They range from adorable to horribly offensive. My favorite is "You've smoked more Poles than the Luftwaffe!" I put my collection after the cut, so if you want to see what all I had to pick from, hit this link )

New phone! [Jan. 23rd, 2009|03:37 pm]
[Current Mood | happy]

So my old phone sucked. really, really bad. I finally stopped replacing it every few months and upgraded to a blackberry curve. It's a pretty cool toy! I've got it synched with my work email, which is sort of weird. I can now write a story, file it and let my editors know, all via my phone.
Technology!

Unfortunately, my old phone wasn't able to export numbers, so I'm stuck doing it by hand. If you want to send me a text with your name and number, or a comment (screened, of course) with your number, that would be ballin as hell.

Now, off to gym, reogranize room, then GAMAN READAN SLEEPAN.

Man, 09 has been pretty crazy for most folks it seems. We just had a huge round of buyouts at the Ledger. out of 700 employees, 250 went out the door. Now I just found out that the section I started with (listings) is getting the boot. Fortunately, they're all getting job offers at another company the Ledger owns, so it isn't nearly as bad as it could be. They'll be in a different office though, so I likely won't see them again. It sucks, but hey, at least they'll land on their feet.

I've been keeping busy with a full plate. Work's been pretty hectic, but not as bad as I thought it'd be. Also, I've been hitting the gym a lot more regularly and doing more focused training. Instead of doing exercises that are fun, or what I'm used to, I've switched it up completely and I'm doing an 8 week intensive weight training schedule. Continuing to lose weight and gain muscle. I think I'm on my way to being in the best shape of my life. Lost 45 lbs last year, and still going. Feels good man.

Read some really good books lately. AJ got me One Bullet Away, a book about the deployment of Marines in Iraq. Really fascinating to read a personal perspective on something the Iraq war. The author really damns the high command and people in command. Unsurprising, given that his unit was the basis for the (excellent) book Generation Kill. Now I'm reading The Great Influenza. Guess what that's about? It's super dense, rich and wonderful. I've read the first 50 pages twice just to try and "get" it all. It's a brief history of the field of medicine. Did you know that until the 1920s, medical colleges in the US were a joke? There was no admissions process, if you could pay, you could go. And as long as you passed 5 of 9 courses, you got your medical degree.

That's pretty much all that's new with me. I'm off from work tomorrow, so I'm listening to some podcasts, chatting online and playing Tiger Woods golf.

...

Fuck you. It's great.

Lastly, when I scroll down my friends list, I see a lot of people seem to be upset about all kinds of things.

So have some happy )

[Current Music |Dvorak- Piano Quintet Op. 81]

talk like people.

I've been pretty busy lately. This will mark the 4th time I've slept in my bed in two weeks. Been traveling lots, visiting family, seeing relatives and spending time with loved ones. I'm not complaining. It's been great seeing my family, my friends, my family again, then more of my friends. Really great.

Just... a bit tiring. It's a two hour bus ride down to my parents, then another 2 hour ride to my grandfather's. hang out there for six hours, then back up. I also was coming down with a bit of a cold, or something. I slept for a solid 12 hours though and am doing much better.

Ugh. I still haven't even fully unpacked yet. Friday is going to be a very long laundry day.

I've got a bit to say actually, but man, it's been really nice to just sit around and relax.

After the whole 1up dissolution I decided to jump on twitter so I can follow some of the talent that's leaving the site. Well, that and I found out a ton of my friends were on it. I'd imagine I'll update it more than my lj. I always write huge, infrequent entries here, and hopefully my twitter will be a bit more regularly updated, with regular things.

Good night all!

BREAKTHROUGH! [Nov. 28th, 2008|02:33 am]
[Current Location |Flemington]
[Current Mood |proud]

I have a lot to be thankful for. Amazing parents, wonderful friends, and about a billion other things.

This post is about the simple things.

I spent Thanksgiving at my brother's house, and spent a ton of time with my 16 month old nephew Dylan.

By the time I left, I got him to say TAIYO (at :29, you get a good one. :35 a decent one. at :40, you get the real deal.) I was very happy about that, but as the day wore on, he wanted more of my japanese voice, so I started singing super robot theme songs to him.

Perhaps the finest moment of my life was when he sang along to the best song ever.. He hit the DASSHU! and DARA-DA!

He's the most hot blooded toddler ever! That kid is gonna be piercing the heavens by the time he's twelve.

MangaNext was complete win. The hotel was really nice and there was a Quiznos that delivered. Can't lose.
I wish there had been a bit more in walking distance, but all told, I had a great time. I spent most of the time socializing, hanging out in the game room, or checking out a few panels. I'd do a more in depth recap, but frankly, most of the best bits were either summed up better by someone else on my friend's list or were kind of "you had to be there".
Suffice it to say though, it was a freaking awesome weekend and I came out of it feeling better than I've felt in a really, really long time. Big thanks to everyone I hung out with at the con for making it such a great weekend. Got to meet some new friends and spend time with people I've known for a while. Just what I needed!
Many thanks in particular to [info]neoangelwink for a really helpful and excellent talk on Friday night, and [info]loudnbothered and [info]soullesscyn for being god damn hilarious at all times. Also, it was really great meeting [info]ginnyseta and [info]rare_dreamer! Seriously, it's wonderful to meet great people who share awesome fandoms.
UC Gundam and Shin Megami Tensei?
YES. PLEASE.

In other news I'm definitely addicted to Fallout 3. I beat the story mode and I'm just trying to figure out who my next character is going to be. My first runthrough, I handled situations the way I think I actually would. So next up is either Jojo (season 3) or Kenshiro (Hokuto no Ken). With high agility and action boy, you can punch people multiple times in one shot, which is pretty "ORAORAORAORAORAORA", or I could focus on paralyzing palm, a fist attack that breaks defenses and causes crippling damage. God damn Fallout 3, you are the best game ever.

Lastly, everyone knows what tomorrow is and what to do. It's been said to death by this point, so I'll leave it to Natalie Portman and Rashida Jones.

THE LEDGER IS NOT FOR SALE! [Oct. 8th, 2008|03:21 pm]
[Current Location |typing]
[Current Mood | relieved]

Whewwwwwwww. So things are bad in this economy. Our newspaper was hemorrhaging money and couldn't support itself as it was any longer. So there were two options on the table. If we could get the driver's union and the mailer's unions to agree to new contract, and to get 250 (or more)non union employees to accept the buyout, the Ledger would remain owned by the Newhouse family. This is the preferred option by pretty much everybody.

Because if any one of those three did not happen, the Ledger would be placed for sale. Today. This would be bad for a number of reasons. New Jersey would lose a huge investigative source (and believe me, somebody has to try and keep some of the NJ government honest) and I would probably lose my job. I work in features, editing and IT. All three of those are easily farmed out, so if we got bought by say, Fox, my column would be gone pretty freaking quick, and replaced by someone they already have working for them.

The deadline was midnight last night. We had the buyouts and the mailer's union, but the driver's union didn't ratify until pretty close to the deadline. But they did, and so now my job is no longer in question! When I started working at the Ledger, I envisioned a career here. I'm so glad to see that dream hasn't been cut short by our crappy economy. I am way relieved, I've been sweating this for about two months now.

There's a TON of restructuring to be done, which means a lot of meetings and listening to some ridiculous ideas, but we'll keep this paper of ours running, even though we are losing some top talent, we've got plenty more waiting in the wings and not to be too cannibalistic, but this is also a huge chance for me to try and become more visible there.

tl;dr: I don't lose my job.

Also, Silent Hill Homecoming is fantastic, and any fans of the series, or really just being scared, should check it out. It's a solid stand alone title, but if you're familiar with Silent Hill lore, there are a ton of great callbacks and moments.

Update and a Meme [Sep. 23rd, 2008|02:47 pm]
Hey all.
So Manarchy occurred and a great time was had by all. We played Power Gear, which is a side scrolling beat em ups, with character designs very clearly ripped ENTIRELY off Banpresto. So if the idea of Kyosuke and an alien Rai smashing the hell out of armies of giant Genspensts, then using their arms and legs in place of your own.... I'm just going to abandon this description and tell you to play it. It's great.

A fairly slow week ahead of me, so I plan to actually get caught up and (maybe even?) ahead on my writing. I'm also refocusing on working out. I've gotten on a new workout plan, and I'll actually be keeping a fitness journal online to keep track of what I'm doing and how I feel afterward. I might link to it at some point if people actually want to read it.

Not a whole lot else to say, so I'll leave you with a fun meme.

Comment and ::
1. I'll respond with something random I like about you.
2. I'll tell you what song/movie reminds me of you.
3. I'll name something we should do together.
4. I'll say something that only makes sense to you and me .
5. I'll tell you my first/clearest memory of you.
6. I'll leave you a quote that is somehow appropriate to you.
7. I'll ask you something that I've always wondered about you.
8. If I do this for you, you must post this on your journal so you can do the same for other people.

Hanging out at home, eating some ShopRite Deluxe Mixed Vegetables and playing some Knights of the Old Republic. nothing is too good for me!

Crazy busy week at work. I'll talk more about it tomorrow, but I was put in charge of a huge project, and barring anything catastrophic happening while I sleep tonight, I think I've knocked it out of the park. But I've worked nearly 24 hours in the past two days, and I'm still doing a few last minute tweaks and edits even now.

I had a ton of fun last weekend. The girls [info]thedreamerworld, [info]koyasunomiko and [info]inbredchocobo had a 1950's housewarming party. I went as disapproving subruban dad. It was pretty sweet. It also brought to light the difference in a party the girls throw, vs. Manarchy. the girls had theme decorations, really cool drink recipies, all kinds of nice hors d'ourves, and appropriate music.

Manarchy usually has bags of chips, pretzels, and maybe pizza rolls if we're really on it. We have cans of beer and a ton of bottles of soda. We have all of us screaming about some HORESEHIT that happened in a videogame, and our nicest decoration is a ceiling fan.

Maybe one day I'll try to throw a grown up party.

...

Unlikely.

99% of the time, it fails everytime [Aug. 20th, 2008|11:36 am]
So I'm against the use of Full Motion Video in most games. It looks cheap, the actors usually phone it in or ham it up and it's very hard to get real life cutscenes to match the context of a videogame world.
That said however, this is completely how you do it right.

George Takei as the head of the Asian Empire.
Tim Curry as the head of the Russian Empire.
JK Simmons (better known as J JONAH JAMESON) as the head of the US of A.

Intentionally cheesy sci-fi plot, dialogue and effects?

I don't even like RTS games but I might have to play this just to hear more lines like "You ready to kick those commies back to their mommies?"

... Get the wig. [Aug. 19th, 2008|02:31 pm]
[Current Mood | bored]

For a full and complete list of the memes that were spawned from this weekend, allow me to point you to the stupdendous Chris Troy's livejournal: http://loudnbothered.livejournal.com/181025.html

Well, Ota has come and gone. It was a pretty awesome experience and sort of rekindled my love for anime. It's funny, I was a hyperactive fan when I first got into, then those same types of fans sort of drove me away from it, now I guess I'm old enough to know that just cause I like Naruto doesn't make me a Narutard. And it's worth my time to give more anime a chance. I complained a lot that nothing really good had come along in a while, but that doesn't mean there's nothing good to watch. I picked up Dai-Guard and I'm making my way through Godannar now. Both shows are pretty freaking rad and I'm really having fun watching them!

On the downside at Ota, I realized that I'm getting old . OR at least older.
I've been eating a lot healthier these days (more on healthy stuff later on!), but at Ota I was like "Hey, it's a con! Fast food!" Man, my stomach disagreed with that course of action. The closest I've gotten to fast food in the past 3 months was Subway, so back to back greasy meals did not do me any favors.

On Thursday and Friday, I had a few beers with John Baker and that was an excellent time. I had a good buzz going, but not too much and didn't feel bloated. I hadn't had any actual liquor in quite some time, so I decided to do some rum and cokes. The rum hit me hard and fast, and left me feeling all around blech. I think I'm done with that one for a while.

And this past weekend I hung out with a friend of mine until 4:30. I used to do that all the time! But now man, I was totally burnt out, exhausted and just blegh. Man, I am NOT in college any more! I used to be able to eat a popeye's dinner, pound a few drinks, stay up all night writing a paper then be ready to rock and roll the next day. Now I think any one of those would knock my old ass out of commission for at least a few hours.

But I had a freaking great time getting to hang out with everybody. I feel like I got to know a few people better, specifically [info]rathshakar and [info]neo2469 more. Mario, you gotta come out to the next Manarchy! It was great running into so many old friends. Definitely rekindled my interest in the convention scene and was just a really refreshing and heartening weekend.

And holy crap, how amazing was JAM Project. Head Cha La, Yusha Oh, Gong, Soultaker, Skill?!?!?! Do want about as hard as I can want. I thought I was going to actually become a mecha at the end of the concert and blast off to clean up the city of Baltimore.

In other news I'VE LOST THIRTY GODDAMN PONUDS!

I've been working out every day before work for the past 2 months and have been focusing on my nutrition since May. I just made one clean sweep, knocked all the junk food out of my diet and replaced it with healthier alternatives. I joined a gym near my apartment so I have no reason not work out regularly and I subscribed to Men's Health to make sure I know what the hell I'm doing. I've dropped a lot of fat and now I'm working on toning up. That's going to take a lot longer, certainly, but I'm so freaking excited about losing this weight that I've got the motivation to keep on keepin on.

Ota Post! [Aug. 4th, 2008|04:42 pm]
Hey all,

So, Otakon is rearing up and I'm getting myself in order. Lots of writing to be done in the coming days! I've got somewhere around 5 stories in the pipeline for the next 5 weeks. Not a bad pace and I've already got skeleton drafts up for all of them.

Otakon should be a fantastic weekend. I'm going to be seeing a lot of old friends, taking in the convention at
my own pace (mostly) and just enjoying myself! I'm meeting up with [Bad username: rathshakar>, <lj user=], [info]umister, [info]neo2469, [info]soullesscyn around 10 am on thursday then booking down to the convention.
Once there, I'll probably set up my "Mobile office" (Read: a laptop), check in, then hopefully enjoy the day. I took the day as a vacation day, as I doubt I'll be in the mood to edit or write for most of the weekend. Thursday night I'm attending an Otakon press conference. Not required viewing, but I'd always rather know something than not know it, ya dig?
This is happening later on, and should relevant to plenty of people's interests. Early screening of Tropic Thunder for folks who have pre-regged!

Friday, I'm planning on a bee-line to the Dealer's room in the morning. Lots of cool stuff I want to check out/buy and I've seen more anime this year than I have in a while. Come on GaoGaiGar model! After that, I'm doing some video work, and taking photos. Shouldn't take too much and hopefully I'll have [info]thedreamerworld helping me out. Still not sure exactly how much video/photo I'll need, but always better to have more than not enough. Friday Night is JAM PROJECT BABY! I am super jacked and can't wait. Flash photography only during the first three songs. I really, really hope they open with Voyager, Skill or Gong. Jesus though, if they finish and do an ENCORE of Skill? Man, I think the being known as Sean Ewing would cease to be. I pull myself together, then check out the CoP panel.

Saturday I sleep in! no plans until noon or so, which is rocking. But once I'm up, it's more photos/videos, more socializing and probably more panels. I'll try to be a fly on the wall for either Masquerade or Craftsmanship judging. Saturday night will be spent having fun and gaming. But not too much fun, after all...

Sunday morning I interview JAM Project! Chris will tag along as photog if I can sneak him in. I'm still readying questions and getting myself mentally prepped for that one. It'll be a freaking doozy. Then it's a car ride back home with much storytelling, I'm sure, and then back to Jersey city for a much deserved crashing.
We'll see how I do with this, but I'd like to hit the gym while I'm at Otakon. I'll post about it tomorrow, but I've been really focusing on my fitness and nutrition and have really started to see payoffs. I want to make sure that I keep the pressure on and don't let myself slack off too much.

The operation was a success! [Jul. 24th, 2008|03:27 pm]
Alright, Trauma Center 2 is hard as crap. No lie, that game was rough as all get out and I loved every minute of it. It was incredibly tense and I found myself scrambling to do three things at once. The tension is palpable and plenty of operations have sections where you HAVE to do the exact right thing in the right order with less than a second margin of error.

The final level was everything you'd expect from a game that hard. They threw every type of parasite and disease at me, required me to learn new tricks on the fly and eventually, set a stipulation that if I made one mistake, GAME OVER.

After two days of trial and error and error and error and error and error, I finally took it down. Vitals stabilized, the heart stopped palpitating and I cleared the mission. Such a gaming feat required only the highest class of high five. Unfortunately, it was around 1a.m. and my roommate AJ was asleep.

I considered waking him up to high five him, but decided against it. I figured I'd just exalt in my own awesomeness for a little bit, before going to bed. Unfortunately, that high five was still stored up in my arm, so while I was brushing my teeth, SNAP.

Photobucket

Cracked the damn thing right in half. I thought it was hilarious, and I still think it's hilarious. Probably would have been far less hilarious if I got shards of plastic in my gums.

Well, maybe not far less.

Also, I'm a huge sheep.

1. Add a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It’s actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I’ll assume you’re playing the game and I’ll come to your blog and leave one about you.

Why So Serious Batmom? [Jul. 22nd, 2008|11:52 am]
[Current Mood | disappointed]

Because Christian Bale beat her up.

I hear and see a lot of stories, but damn, this one surprised me. I always thought of Christian Bale as one of the good guys, you know? Focused on his craft and taking care of his family. It'll be interesting to find out the full story behind this, he wasn't actually arrested, he turned himself in. Of course, this was after his mother and sister filed an assault charge against him. Every story has two sides, so I want to hear, well, both of them at this point.
Still, it really is disappointing, to say the least. He was an excellent actor that I had a lot of respect for. Now he's accused of doing the worst thing a man can do.
Not cool Batman.

Edited: It's apparently for verbal assault, which is a crime over there. Now that it seems clear he didn't actually hit anyone, what do you think he said to get his Mom and Sister so upset?
"What are you retarded or something? I'm the goddamned Batman!"
